Our starting point is located in the Ferrol port. We walk up to the San Juan bastion, a park located above the port from where we can contemplate the lovely views of the estuary mouth and a panoramic view of the area. The San Juan bastion is located in the old town and forms part of the ancient defensive city wall. Its elevated position made it ideal to defend the estuary and the inner dock at Curuxeiras. Inside the park there is a small monument which commemorates the battle of Brión (25 and 26 August 1800) when the people of Ferrol defended the coast from an attack by the English.
